Position Available: Director of Family Ministries

SBICC is pleased to announce that we are seeking applicants for the position of Director of Family Ministries. Our desire is to help families and their kids grow into mature and multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ. We also want to strengthen our ministry culture as we grow with them, developing a healthy team of volunteers. We want to increase our capacity to reach and nurture these families as well as their friends and neighbors.

We are looking for a devoted and growing Christ-follower, with solid experience in ministry leadership, to come alongside of us on our mission. The position requires twenty hours of work each week, includes active involvement in the worship and fellowship life of the congregation, and alignment with our church’s core beliefs, values and mission.

Job Description and Mission

PURPOSE:

The Mission of Souderton BIC Church is to make disciples who are

  • Connecting in loving relationship with God and others through the grace of Jesus Christ
  • Growing in Christ-like character
  • Serving the world in Jesus’ name

The Director of Family Ministries will lead the ministry of discipleship with families; children and youth and their parents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.ENGAGING IN THE LIFE OF THE CHURCH

  • Regular attendance in worship and involvement in the life of the SBIC congregation
  • Work with the senior pastor to integrate families into the mission and community life of the congregation

2.DEVELOPING MINISTRIES

  • Strengthen our existing ministries (both Sunday and mid-week events) and develop new ones to reach and disciple children (0-18) and their parents (Current ministries include Sunday School, Kids at Worship, Nursery Care, and Youth Group.)
  • Set ministry goals and evaluate the effectiveness of the above ministries in accomplishing our mission
  • Coordinate family ministries with the mission and other activities of the church
  • Create and implement special events—Vacation Bible School and other seasonal events for evangelism (includes promoting and preparing for summer church camps/Kenbrook, and Atlantic BIC Conference events

3.LEADING AND DEVELOPING VOLUNTEERS IN MINISTRY

  • Recruit, Develop, and Support volunteer staff
  • Meet regularly with the ministry volunteers to ensure a healthy and cooperative team-led ministry
  • Plan and execute helpful and informative trainings for volunteers
  • Ensure that all volunteers are valued and appreciated
  • Oversee and update volunteer schedules.
  • Communicate in a proactive and timely manner with ministry volunteers, teachers, and parents
  • Work with the senior pastor to implement the church’s Child Protection Policy

4.NETWORKING

  • Building relationships with ministries and other groups in the community, outside of SBICC, to help enlarge our influence, and increase our effectiveness in disciple-making

 

TRAINING:

  • Previous experience of active involvement in ministry leadership

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • Working twenty hours each week toward the accomplishment of the above tasks

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • The Director of Family Ministries will report to the senior pastor
  • Provide written monthly reports to the SBIC Church Board

  • Alignment with the beliefs, core values, and practices of the Brethren in Christ Church
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and measure the results of ministry programs and events
  • A passion for developing ministries that facilitate faith development
  • Ability to serve as a spiritual role model by demonstrating a commitment to Christian spiritual practices and by articulating a personal relationship with Christ
  • Willingness to lead with a professional and positive team spirit
